How To Effectively Market At A Trade Show On A Low Budget

It is important for a business to be successful at a trade show. There are several options available at your disposal to effectively market your business/product at a trade show, even if you are working with a shoestring budget. The main thing is to educate yourself about the shows you will be exhibiting at along with the different trade show display options that are available to you and fit within your budgeted price.

You know the old saying knowledge is power well that couldn’t be more true when it comes to trade show marketing. Depending on your industry and type of show exhibiting can be an expensive endeavor but in return has the opportunity to provide great returns if done correctly. This is why you need to educate yourself on such topics as the show venue, the competition, exhibiting space, display type, and show services. By having an understanding and being prepared you will not only save money on exhibiting expenses but you will be more inclined to have a successful show.

As stated earlier there are a variety of display options available when exhibiting but with a lower budget you’re probably limited to booths that fall under the categories of being portable, modular, rental, used, or banner stands. All these displays types have their own features benefits and draw backs but you will need to do your research and see what display fits your company best.

Portable displays also known as pop up displays are great for first time exhibitors or a business looking to present a professional look on a limited budget. Portable displays are the most used display throughout the trade show industry. Not only is the purchase price lower than other booths but you also save on shipping and handling and show labor costs.

Modular displays are a step up from portable displays these exhibits are often built with aluminum extrusion that is fitted with graphics and usually have cabinets or counters. These displays are nicer looking then traditional pop up displays but also cost more.

Rentals displays are great for exhibitors who are looking to break into the exhibiting arena or for veteran exhibitors that are looking to have a grander display at show but wouldn’t be able to afford the purchase price of the display. You must exhibit rentals rent for 1/3 or less of the purchase price.

Sure we would all love to buy a new trade show display, but that simply isn’t an option at this time. Instead of dishing out money for a new display, think about buying a used display or refurbishing any exhibiting equipment you might have. This will definitely save money on the purchase price of the displays but make sure you know what you’re exactly getting before purchasing. Remember these are used displays so you shouldn’t expect to get something that looks brand new.

In summary remember knowledge is power and don’t forget to do your homework because the more educated you are the better the results will be.
