IIT-GNY and TiE Tri-State proudly announce the launch of Mentor’s Circle, a joint mentorship program geared to provide its respective members one-on-one mentorship by senior IIT alumni and TiE Charter Members.
The program was launched with much fanfare at the IIT Bombay Golden jubilee event on July 20th at the Marriott Marquis, New York where Jude Netto, the current President of IIT-GNY commended the effort and said “Our mentorship program is a much-needed service for IIT alumni and TiE members, who seek personal and professional development. I compliment our mentors who have, without hesitation, agreed to take time from their busy schedules, to freely share the knowledge, experience and successes of their individual journeys”.
Program leads, Dhiraj Kumar and Sameer Mittal, explained how the program works and said “This program offers a richer mentorship experience. It allows mentees to develop a deeper relationship with the mentor and receive mentorship on issues tailored to their needs over a longer duration”. They expressed their gratitude to the IIT, TiE Chapter Presidents and the mentors who supported the effort from the get go. They also thanked the several volunteers who worked day and night to make the program a reality.

Program Mission
Mentor’s Circle is geared to serve the mentorship needs of over 3000 IIT alumni and 1000 TiE member in the greater New York area. It provides one-on-one mentoring by senior IIT Alumni and TiE Charter Members who have volunteered to devote a portion of their time every month to provide guidance and share their experiences with IIT Alumni and TiE members seeking professional and personal development.
The program has recruited several senior mentors from a variety of industries who bring with them a successful track record of managing businesses, launching companies and succeeding in highly visible leadership roles. The program’s goal to provide mentorship in a broad set of areas including personal development, entrepreneurship, industry / domain expertise development and other areas of professional interest.
The program is conducted in segments of 4 months each during which the mentees receive an opportunity to meet with their mentor’s one-on-one once a month. Participation in the program is determined though an application process which seeks to accept those who have a well thought need, a defined goal and commitment to learn.
